Four weeks later, the wedding took place in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, naturally with a multi-tiered WEDDING CAKE made from several sizes of the daily produced LIPIZZAN® CAKE.

The honeymoon trip took them to Cairo, as planned, to see the Sphinx and the Great Pyramid of Giza. The LIPIZZAN® CAKE proved its worth as a uniquely heat-stable, long-lasting moist chocolate cake, which the newlyweds were able to use to bring much joy to their hosts in Cairo as moist and fresh gifts from Vienna.
Since then, the brand has stood not only for the color white, but for much more.

The photos of the bridal couple in front of the Cheops Pyramid inspired their descendants at LECONTE CHOCOLATIERS® 100 years later to design the triangular packaging for the LIPIZZANER®TRUFFLES with
the imprint of a 19th-century hat shape,
referencing Theresia Hauer's hat boxes.

The unique love story of Karl Count of Leiningen & Christine, daughter of Theresia Hauer, sustainably develops the story and romantic appeal of the LIPIZZAN® CAKE and LIPIZZAN® TRUFFLES:
Karl Count zu Leiningen served as a diplomat in the Bavarian service in Vienna from 1889. A passionate Egyptologist, he had already traveled to Cairo several times, where he participated in the excavations of the Sphinx. Until then, his only gifts to his hosts had been Viennese chocolate cakes made with flour. On trips lasting up to a week, these cakes quickly dried out and were no longer appreciated by anyone at his destination.
Then a colleague recommended that he buy LIPIZZAN® CAKE at Theresia Hauer Chocolade in Vienna's Stephansplatz – chocolate cakes that stay moist even on long journeys, made with ground almonds instead of flour, fine apricot jam and heat-stable white chocolate glaze, packaged stably and originally in hatboxes.
He followed this recommendation, visited the shop at Vienna's Stephansplatz and fell head over heels in love with Christine, the daughter who was helping out her mother Theresia Hauer in the Stephansplatz branch that day.

The packaging of LIPIZZAN® CAKES & LIPIZZAN® TRUFFLES in hatboxes is also legendary. In 19th-century England, this led to the ever-popular slogan for our products:

This design element is still used by us today in the visual language of these branded products.

In 1960, four generations later, this family history was impressively repeated with Annemarie Lehner-Schmid (great-granddaughter of the founder Theresia Hauer and then owner of our chocolate production) and Robert Lehner, who also tied the knot after only four weeks for a happy life together - naturally with a multi-tiered wedding cake made from several sizes of the LIPIZZAN® CAKE, which is always associated with happy moments and major life events.
